Once upon a time, there lived a young man in a village. His name was Toba. Although Toba was dilligent, he was still poor.
One day he went to the river for fishing. He was in the bank of the river for almost a day but it seemed that there was not any fish at all in that river. Suddenly, a big fish ate the bait in his hook.
He was very surprised! The fish spoke like a human being.
“Young man, bring me home. Don’t eat me! You‘ll be very lucky living with me.” Toba took the fish home. At his home the fish turned into a beautiful woman. Toba married with her condition that Toba must not tell anybody what she really was.
A year after marrying they got a very handsome son. They lived happily year after year.
One day, the beautiful woman asked her son to bring food for Toba in the rice field. The son was very glad to do it.
On the way, he met his friends and played with them. He forgot to bring the food for his father. He ate the food with his friends.
Late in the afternoon, he remembered that he had to bring food for his father. His father must be very hungry. He was afraid of his father.
His father was very angry knowing that the son didn’t bring the food for him.
“You! Son of the fish!” He shouted angrily. Being afraid of his father, the son ran away quickly to his mother.
“Father said that I am the son of a fish! Is that right mother?”
“My son! My son! You are my son!” Shouted the beautiful woman sadly.
“My son, go away! Quickly! Now!” She cried.
“Go away to the high mountain, right now” She said once more.
“But mother?”
“You are a boy. You must take care of your self. Ran away! Quickly!”
After a while there was a very hard rain. It became a big flood. The water covered all the land in the village except the mountain where the son was crying for his mother.
The beautiful woman turned into a big fish again. When there was a full moon, she became a beautiful woman who was always longing for her son.
Toba died in the flood. The land of the village turned into a big lake and the mountain became a small island in the middle of the lake.
